SUMMARY:

ADDICTION, LOSS, AND RECOVERY: HOW TO DEEPLY UNDERSTAND ADDICTIVE BEHAVIOR AND WIN THE BATTLE

Nick Lechnir fights anxiety and depression almost on a daily basis. Coming from a home ripped apart by alcoholism and abuse, he has struggled with suicidal thoughts and many other issues associated with severe depression and anxiety about as far back as the age of nine. That's over 40 years! The hope is that his story will reach people and inspire them to think and act with compassion, but also to bring about a fundamental shift in the way people think about addiction and abuse.

As of 2016, Nick has been on a quest with a presentation titled "Addiction, Loss, and Recovery: How to Deeply Understand the Mindset of Addictive Behavior and Win the Battle", which is aimed at anyone who's ever experienced the pain and struggle of growing up in an environment of addiction and abuse, or knows someone who has been through this.

The message is simple and clear: THE CYCLE OF ADDICTION AND ABUSE ENDS RIGHT HERE AND RIGHT NOW!

The goal is simple. We need to change perceptions in our culture about what is acceptable behavior in our family and in society. We must understand all the factors involved with addiction and teach people how to handle poisonous side effects of addictive behavior, such as severe anxiety, depression, abusive interactions, and uncontrolled anger.

In his own words, "The biggest part for me is about setting the expectation for families that everyone should be having this conversation. Families need to get used to talking openly and honestly about healthy relationships, and that addiction and abuse is NOT okay."

"My hope is to set proper expectations and make people aware of these issues as early as possible. If you're not setting proper expectations, how do you expect your kids to know what is right and wrong? We need to set the bar high and keep it there. This is the only thing that will cement our future as a healthy culture."

"Let this be our primary focus moving forward. If you see even the slightest sign of anyone in your family or social circle heading for trouble, or you know it's already happening, you need to step up and say 'The cycle of addiction and abuse ends right here and right now!' and then do it."
